Auroral Sculpture of the Evening |
|

Instrumentation:
Grand Piano with 3 pedals - use of sostenuto pedal and silent keys to produce harmonics

Durata: 11'

Program Notes:
The Evening is Rei Munakata’s favorite time of the day: Mysterious, distant, and melancholic in character, and there is a sense of searching, uncertainty, and falling deep inside of the self-rotating Aurora. The Sculpture made by the Evening would be self-evolving, pure, and transparent – just like the sound of piano! There is so much hidden behind a piano tone: silent keys, harmonics, sostenuto pedal, echoes, and absence. The Evening hammers away…
